A Fan Fiction Writer’s Appreciation Day event

Fan Fiction Writer’s Appreciation Day (FFWAD) is an annual celebration of the works and effort of fanfiction writers that occurs August 21. Individuals are encouraged to show their appreciation in whatever way they may wish. Common actions for the day include posting comments on your favorite fanfictions, reaching out to send the writer a message, and sharing a list of fanfiction recommendations, fan art, or other crafts inspired by fanfiction on social media.

Here at Renegade we celebrate with our event Renegade Loves Fic(writers).

For this event binders reach out to a fanfiction writer who has a story they love and offer to make them a physical copy (or digital typeset) of their story. The goal of the event is to have the writers receive a copy of their story by the August 21st deadline.

The call for participation goes out annually around the middle of May and folks are invited to join in on the fun anytime after that until FFWAD.

These are gifts and cost of the bind as well as the shipping falls to the binder.

In order to help ensure that books can sometimes make it around the world we do ask that participants aim to have their books completed and shipped no later than July 31. (But if you book isn’t done by then don’t despair, get your book done and sent when you can what really matters is the appreciation your book represents, not when it gets there)

Participants are encouraged to complete the annual survey about the work they completed as this allows us to share some statistics about the books created after FFWAD.

On FFWAD, August 21, Binders and writers alike are encouraged to share their books and typesets on social media as part of the day of appreciation. Tags #FFWAD and #Renegadelovesfic(writers)
